Julie and I will be hiking from John O’Groats to Land’s End in the UK during the northern summer of 2022. The journey of nearly 2,000 kilometres will take about two and a half months, a week or two longer than when I hiked the other direction in 2010. We will stay in B&B’s, hostels and pubs, so will not be carrying camping gear, though we will each have an emergency bivvy sack just in case we can’t find somewhere to stay.

Journal:

Given we were having a day off, we slept in and Julie went for a run before picking up some breakfast on her way back to our accommodation.

Later, we went for a walk through Fort William, buying some replacement walking shoes for Julie (her trail shoes are wearing down) after visiting several outdoor stores.  Fort William is a big outdoor sports centre for hiking, mountain-biking, climbing, etc.., and has well-stocked stores.  On our way back to our room, we bought some lunch and, later, Julie went for a walk while Dave did various admin stuff related to our running club.

Julie later bought some pizza and ice cream for dinner which we ate in our room and then we just lazed around watching TV.  Back on the trail tomorrow and, though we have enjoyed the day off, we are keen to get moving again.
